The Philippines  has reported 590 more coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases on Saturday, with  both fresh and old cases, bringing  the total to 17,224.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), 252 of the new cases were “fresh cases” and the remaining 338 were “late cases,” which were based on test results released to patients four days ago or more.

Total recoveries rose to 3,808 with 88 new ones, while eight more fatalities brought the death toll to 950.

The DOH said there are 11,972 active cases. Of these, 714 or 6 percent are asymptomatic, 11,184 or 93.4 percent are mild, 56 or 0.5 percent are severe, and 18 or 0.2 percent are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, 37 laboratories in the country have been given certification to test for the virus.
