COVID-19 positive cases in PH now 307, deaths 19, recoveries 13—DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) has reported on Saturday afternoon an increase of 77 positive cases of the deadly coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines, as the total soared to 307.

Deaths total to 19 cases.

Recoveries total to 13 cases.

“As of 4 p.m.  Saturday, the Department of Health reports ​77 new cases (PH231-PH307) of COVID-19.  Total number ​of cases in the country is now at  ​307,” said the DOH COVID-19 Case  Bulletin  #007,  4:00 p.m., 21 March 2020.

“Today, DOH also reports one additional death. This brings the total number of deaths to 19,” said the DOH in its latest bulletin.

“DOH announces 5 new recoveries (4 elderly, one of which is a severe case). This brings the total number of recoveries to 13,” the DOH also said.

The DOH, in its Bulletin, also described the  18th fatality  as PH124, who died Friday.

Cause of death was “Acute Respiratory Failure secondary to Pneumonia-High Risk, COVID-19.”  The victim had “Diabetes Mellitus type 2, Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease, Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding.”

The DOH, in the 19th fatality report this Saturday, described the patient as a 73-year old Filipino female from San Juan City.

The patient had no travel or exposure history.

She was pronounced dead on arrival on March 12, 4:44 pm. Cause of death was cardiac arrest.  She was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 18.  She was a known diabetic and hypertensive.

 

On the recoveries, the DOH reported the following:

  • PH62-9th

○ 35-year old Filipino female from Rizal
○ With no travel or exposure history
○ Onset of symptoms began on March 1
○ Swab taken on March 10 was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 13
○ Discharged on March 15 asymptomatic with 1 negative result
○ With pre-existing Asthma

 

  • PH41-10th

○ 75-year old Filipino female from Makati City
○ With travel history from USA and exposure history to known COVID-19 cases
○ Onset of symptoms began on March 1
○ Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 11
○ Discharged on March 17 asymptomatic with 1 negative result

 

  • PH16-11th

○ 70-year old Filipino male from San Juan City
○ Husband of PH17 (12th PH recovery)
○ Onset of symptoms began on March 1
○ Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 9
○ Discharged on March 19 asymptomatic with 2 negative results
○ Known hypertensive

 

  • PH17-12th

○ 69-year old Filipino female from San Juan City
○ Wife of PH16 (11th PH recovery)
○ Onset of symptoms began on March 2
○ Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 9
○ Discharged on March 19 asymptomatic with 2 negative results
○ Known hypertensive

 

  • PH49-13th

○ 72-year old Filipino male from Batangas
○ With exposure history to a known COVID-19 case
○ Onset of symptoms began on March 1
○ Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 11
○ Reported as a severe case on March 13
○ Discharged on March 21 asymptomatic with 2 negative results
○ Known hypertensive./  Stacy Ang
