UAAP postpones all season 82 events due to COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The UAAP Board has decided to postpone all sports events starting Saturday, 15 February 2020, due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

This means that the the league’s collegiate volleyball and men’s football tournament slated to open this weekend will be moved to a later date.

The league’s Board of Trustees and Board of Managing Directors made the announcement on Wednesday with the new schedule to be announced later.

Aside from volleyball and football, other affected events are the opening of UAAP season 82 softball (February 17), seniors baseball  (February 19), athletics (February 19-23), and judo (last week of February)

The league also postponed the ongoing playoffs for the high school beach volleyball and basketball tournaments.

The UAAP board said that they are closely monitoring the situation in the Philippines to determine the resumption of the games.

The league is also calling for everyone to stay safe and pray for the safety of our country.
