Duterte to attend 35th ASEAN Summit

Presidential spokesperson Salvador “Sal” Panelo today assured that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will attend the 2019 Association of South East Asian Nations summit this 31st of October up to November 4 in Bangkok Thailand.

Hosting of the summit is rotated, with the next one as the last time Thailand will host such. Thai prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha says that their government is ready and prepared for the security and transportation for participating leaders.

Opening ceremonies will be held on November 3. The opening of the ASEAN Summit will take place on Nov. 3, followed by ASEAN Plus Three Summit on the next day, Prayut confirmed.

The Thai Interior Ministry, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Royal Thai Police are among the agencies responsible for carrying out security measures.
Thai police has also confirmed that up to 10,000 police officers will be deployed during the ASEAN Summit.
